Solid Waste Management / Landfill Specialist

About the role

The Solid Waste Management / Landfill Specialist will assess existing dumpsites, develop waste volume projections, and support the design of sustainable landfill solutions. Working closely with government, NGOs, and international experts, the role ensures that landfill projects are technically feasible, cost‑effective, and environmentally responsible.

Key responsibilities

• Assess current conditions of existing dumpsites in project areas.
• Develop short‑, medium‑, and long‑term solid waste volume forecasts based on urban development scenarios.
• Identify and evaluate alternative sites for new landfills in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Conduct technical due diligence on proposed landfill sites, including feasibility, impact, and operational sustainability analyses.
• Prepare detailed plans, cost estimates, and preliminary engineering designs for both existing dumpsite closures and new landfill developments.
• Incorporate recycling facilities and low‑emission design principles into landfill concepts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in solid waste management, landfill design, or related environmental engineering fields.
• Strong ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, including government agencies, NGOs, and international consultants.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on sustainable solutions.
