Security Systems Engineer

About the role

The Security Systems Engineer is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of hardwired, wireless or computerised electronic security and related systems, including intruder alarms, fire, access control, CCTV, duress alarms and general fire suppression systems. The position is advertised as a contract role based in Honiara.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the costs of items specific to the role.
• Install, maintain and monitor electronic security systems such as access control, CCTV, intruder alarms and fire alarm systems.
• Provide a 24-hour emergency response to security system incidents.
• Investigate security breaches and review the daily logs of the Security Monitoring team.
• Program and configure security and fire systems, and carry out repairs, preventive measures and maintenance across the company's security and fire systems.
• Develop and review security-specific policies and processes, and coordinate CCTV footage requests and review queries.
• Conduct performance reviews for the Security Monitoring Team and supervise subordinates, liaising with the Team Leader on disciplinary matters.
• Build a collaborative relationship with the Property, Security and Fleet team and others.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Network Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 to 5 years of proven experience testing, installing, repairing and programming alarms, electronic security and systems, including current technology and equipment.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to drive.
• Leadership skills and the ability to communicate orally and in writing with managers, supervisors, vendors and peers.

Required skills

• Reading and translating schematic and wiring diagrams.
• Installing, repairing and testing hardwired, wireless and computerised security, fire, access control, duress, CCTV and fire suppression systems.
• Knowledge of multimeters, programming devices and other fire and security test equipment.
