Commercial Finance Manager

About the role

The Commercial Finance Manager will lead the local finance function in Honiara, reporting to the Finance Director and partnering with the General Manager. This senior finance leadership position combines strong technical finance expertise with commercial insight to support strategic business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations and manage a small local finance team.
• Ensure robust financial controls, accurate accounting, and reliable reporting.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, treasury, and working‑capital activities.
• Drive debtor, credit, and collection management.
• Prepare management reports with analysis and recommendations.
• Support the General Manager with financial modelling, costing, and scenario analysis.
• Monitor profitability, gross margins, pricing, and overall business performance.
• Collaborate with Sales and Operations to improve financial and commercial outcomes.
• Review and improve processes for efficiency and control.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, mentor, and build capability of the local finance team.

Required profile

• 8–10+ years of relevant finance experience, preferably as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Commercial Finance Manager.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional qualification (CA, CPA, CMA) highly regarded.
• Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to influence senior operational stakeholders.
• Experience in FMCG, consumer goods, trading or distribution is advantageous.
• Previous work in Pacific Islands or other emerging markets is a plus.
