Civil Engineer

About the role

The Civil Engineer will provide professional civil engineering services to support the delivery, performance and growth of infrastructure projects for SMEC in the Solomon Islands. The role involves undertaking design calculations, preparing technical reports, managing project delivery requirements and supporting client engagement and business development activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver civil engineering outputs including reports, design calculations and documentation.
• Manage and coordinate project activities in line with client and company requirements.
• Provide technical outputs aligned with environmental, social and quality standards.
• Support business development initiatives such as proposals and marketing activities.
• Supervise and guide drafting and technical support staff where required.
• Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to successful project delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional membership of an engineering body.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil engineering, preferably in PNG or a similar environment.
• Good communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Civil engineering design calculations.
• Preparation of Bill of Quantities.
• Civil, structural and geotechnical design knowledge.
