Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Consultant (Remote, 11 months)

About the role

UNICEF Pacific, in partnership with the Solomon Islands Government, seeks an experienced consultant to lead the development of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) tools for education, health, and community sectors. The role is remote with travel to the Solomon Islands and lasts 11 months.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to design context‑relevant MHPSS guidance and training materials.
• Develop curriculum content for teachers on child development, psychosocial needs, identification, support pathways, and self‑care.
• Create Training‑of‑Trainers (ToT) packages and capacity‑building resources for health‑facility mental health personnel.
• Lead the integration of MHPSS into teacher professional development programmes and school‑based counselling systems.
• Produce professional standards and implementation guidance for use across education, health, and community sectors.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Mental Health, Education, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in mental health, psychosocial support, counselling, child and adolescent wellbeing, or systems strengthening in education or health.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of the local language is an advantage.
